The Life and Death of Pistol Pete Maravich
My life was changed forever on January 5, 1988 while playing basketball with Pete in Pasadena, California, where he played his last game on earth. The legacy he left has not only had a profound impact on my life, but on the lives of many others as well. Focusing on themes of serving and surrender, this story is one that resonates with men's groups, youth groups, camps, and schools, as well as coaches and their players.
Here's a little more about Pistol Pete and what makes him stand out as a player in basketball history:
The most prolific scorer in NCAA history
Averaged 44.2 for his career
1,381 points in a season
3,667 points in his career
Led the nation in scoring in his sophomore, junior, and senior years at LSU
Three-time first team All America selection
1970 consensus national player of the year
SEC Player of the Year in 1968, 1969, and 1970
Inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame on May 5, 1987
